Let's first make sure we know the difference between a true equation and a false equation.
An equation has a left side and a right side.
If the left side and the right side are equal, then the equation is true. Otherwise, the equation is false.
The equation 3+6 = 7+2 is true.
(You can click the link 3+6 = 7+2 to see the equation in Algebra Calculator.)
To see why this equation is true, let's simplify the left side and the right side of the equation.
Left side: 3+6 equals 9
Right side: 7+2 equals 9
Since both sides are equal to 9, the equation is true.
The equation 3+4 = 5+1 is false.
To see why this equation is false, let's simplify the left and right sides.
Left side: 3+4 equals 7
Right side: 5+1 equals 6
Since these sides are not equal (7 ≠ 6), the equation is false.
