I am suppose to take the equation y-2=m(-x-(-4)) and write it into standard or general form Ax+By=C, but I don't understand how to do that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
Let me give it a try. y-2=m(-x-(-4)) You want to use algebra to turn this equation into something that looks like Ax+By=C using algebraic steps: y-2=m(-x-(-4)) y-2=m(-x+4) Distribute the m: y-2=-mx+4m mx+y-2=4m mx+y=4m+2 This now looks like Ax+By=C: A=m B=1 C=4m+2 |
